Of Belonging is a collaborative project between my grandfather and me, containing the photographs of his past and my present. My grandfather, Dale Greer, passed away when I was five so I have very little memory of him. In 2012, my discovery of his archive of vernacular photo slides collided with the beginning of my relationship with photography. I became extremely attached to the slides and over time realized that although their original purpose was to provide documentation of my family's history, they entered a plane that dove beneath the surface of their nostalgic quality. I quickly formed a relationship to them as if they were my own. Together yet separate, our photographs create a complete sense of belonging to one another.
